Choosing Carlos Santos Tassel Loafers
Carlos Santos tassel loafers combine the relaxed slip-on construction of a loafer with a more decorative apron-toe design and traditional tassel detail. The collection at The Noble Dandy is made from smooth calf leather with Goodyear welt construction and leather soles, providing a polished option for tailored, business-casual and smart-casual outfits.
The tassels and raised apron stitching give these loafers more visual character than simpler penny-loafer designs. At the same time, their clean calf-leather uppers allow them to be worn with more formal clothing than many casual loafers. They work particularly well with tailored trousers, chinos and less formal suits where a lace-up shoe is not required.
Black is the sharper and more formal option. It pairs naturally with grey, charcoal, navy and black trousers and works well when the rest of the outfit is kept clean and understated. Dark brown is more versatile for smart-casual dressing and combines easily with navy, beige, grey, olive and brown trousers.
The current tassel loafers are made on the Carlos Santos 1944 last in an F medium fit. Goodyear welt construction provides the traditional welted structure used throughout much of the Carlos Santos footwear collection, while the leather sole maintains a clean profile suited to tailored clothing.
When choosing between the two colors, consider where the shoes will be worn most often. Black is the stronger choice for darker tailoring and more formal combinations, while dark brown moves more easily between tailored trousers, chinos and relaxed smart-casual outfits.
