Pantherella
The story of Pantherella started in 1937 when it opened its doors as a women's hosiery fabric. In 1945 it changed its name to Pantherella Fine English Socks and began trading. Since then Pantherella has held firm in their beliefs, making all of their fine English socks in Leicester, combining their modern machinery with traditional methods to ensure that they meet the highest quality standards.Pantherella is a British company that has been manufacturing fine English men’s socks since 1945. The company was founded by Louis Goldschmidt, who believed that lightweight, seamless and fancy socks for men would be in high demand. Goldschmidt convinced local machine makers P.A. Bentley to produce a specialist sock machine, and Pantherella became renowned for creating the world’s finest socks.
The company’s exports grew significantly, and by the 1940s, Pantherella had started exporting to North America and later, Australia. Today, Pantherella continues to manufacture all of its fine English socks at its family-owned factory in Leicester, holding firm to its philosophy of “Provenance, Design & Quality”.
Over the years, Pantherella’s men’s sock collections have advanced significantly from Louis’ basic ribbed socks. Despite challenges from cheaper alternatives, Pantherella has continued to maintain its beliefs, creating socks that reflect the company’s commitment to quality, design, and British heritage.
